As the end of the semester approaches, LCC Performing Arts is offering a series of free performances and concerts. These events allow students to show off achievements earned throughout the year, and are free to attend.

On Wednesday, April 17, the LCC Jazz Band, along with the Waverly High School Jazz Band, are performing at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place at Waverly Middle School at 620 Snow Road, and the band will be directed by LCC instructor Jonathan Gewirtz.

The Jazz Band will perform again at the Hastings Jazz Festival Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. This performance will be located at the Walldorff Ballroom, at 105 E State St. in Hastings, under the direction of Gewirtz

The next day, on Sunday, April 28 at 6 p.m., the LCC Rock Band will perform at Mac’s Bar at 2700 E. Michigan Ave. The Rock Band is under the direction of LCC instructor Christopher Rollins.

Performances of “The Good Doctor” by Neil Simon/Anton Chekhov, directed by Andy Callis, will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4, at 7 p.m. These performances will take place in the Gannon Building’s Black Box Theatre.

Finally, on Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m., the LCC Concert Choir, under the direction of LCC instructor Dr. Jon Ten Brink, will hold a concert at the Okemos Community Church at 4743 Okemos Road in Okemos.

LCC Performing Arts Coordinator, Paige Tufford spoke about the upcoming performances and concerts.

“These end-of-semester productions are a culmination of everything students have been working on throughout the semester,” Tufford said. “This is a way to showcase and celebrate our students' creativity.

“We're excited that we can offer these free performances to the community so they can see what amazing music and theatre programs we have here at LCC. There's something for everyone. Whether it's theatre, jazz or classical music, we've got it covered.”
