LCC’s Performing Arts programs welcome students and community members to attend several upcoming free performances.

Many of the performing arts students are finishing up their last semester at LCC and the events will display a culmination of their studies throughout the programs.

“The Vocal Jazz and Pop Ensemble class, performing with the Concert Choir, was recently revived to rave reviews,” said LCC Performing Arts Coordinator Paige Dunckel. “The same thing goes for the Musical Theatre Performance class.”

On Thursday and Friday, Dec. 7 and 8, the Musical Theatre Performance class will entertain starting at 8 p.m. each evening in the Gannon Building’s Black Box Theatre. This group is led by instructor Kelly Stuible-Clark.
On Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m., The LCC Concert Choir, led by Jon Ten Brink, and the Vocal and Jazz Pop Ensemble, led by Nada Radakovich, will perform at the Okemos Community Church, located at 4734 Okemos Road in Okemos.

Also on Sunday, Dec. 10, the LCC Rock Band, under the direction of instructor Christopher Rollins, will entertain at The Avenue Café, located at 2021 W. Michigan Ave. in Lansing.

All of the events are free. Donations toward the programs will be accepted.

The performances will serve to entertain the community in an accessible way, and can be a preview into programs attendees may enroll in themselves.

“It’s amazing to see a mix of LCC students and community members in all of these performance class groups, since you can take them for credit or as a no-credit course,” Dunckel said. “It makes classes in our music program more accessible to the community, or (for) individuals who just want to take a class for fun.”

“Students and community members should absolutely come out and see the variety of performances we have going this week and weekend. It's a great way for students to see classes that are available to them.”
