Taqueria El Chaparrito is a family-owned authentic Mexican restaurant located at 4832 W. Saginaw Hwy. in Lansing.
Business hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
I have yet to dine in at this establishment, but when I walk into the restaurant to pick up my carryout order, I admire the scenery. The chosen decor and vibes of the place display authenticity and provide the feeling of a family-oriented space.
I ordered the birria taco meal, substituting the beans for double rice. There was no wait line when I arrived to pick up my order, which made my transaction quick and smooth.
The tacos were wrapped in foil to keep them warm and fresh for my trip back home.
Birria tacos consist of either juicy, tender goat meat or beef. They have a double layer shell with cheese combining the two, topped with onions and cilantro.
What really makes the birria taco delicious is the consome on the side, which is used to dip the taco into before devouring it.
I like to add the hot sauce provided by the restaurant on top, giving it a little more spice.
After dipping the taco into the consome and taking a bite, the flavors began to dance on my tongue, throwing a party for my mouth.
To make the most of it, I also dip my rice in the consome to absorb the delicious umami flavor.
I have tried three other places that serve birria tacos, but none has met the same satisfaction that Taqueria El Chaparrito has given my taste buds. For that I give it 5 out 5 stars.
