Charlie Kang’s has a wide variety of classic Chinese and Korean cuisine. I had been there before and decided to take another stop in, since it has been about a year since I last ordered from there.

I decided on takeout because the restaurant is constantly packed with people! It is probably one of the most successful, and well-known Chinese and Korean spots in East Lansing. It has a 4.6-star rating on Google, hundreds of positive reviews, and a huge menu!

It would have been nice to snag a table. Instead I enjoyed the smells of spicy gochujang and sweet Ssamjang while I waited. The host was kind and offered me to sit and make myself comfortable. It was not a long wait; it surprisingly only took about 15 minutes to come out.

The trip home took about half that time because of the delicious smells of chili and ginger that filled my car. I was even more excited opening up the boxes to my fresh shrimp spring rolls and kimchi rice. The rice was so perfectly balanced with sweet and sour flavors.

Charlie Kang’s is generous with portions. The service is fast and caring and the menu ranges from about $10 to $20 per plate. You can order over the phone, or online for pickup.

Make it your next spot when you are in the mood for Chinese or Korean cuisine. Located in the City District Building at 109 E. Grand River Ave. in East Lansing, it is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
