Another Lansing gem that isn’t talked about enough is One North Kitchen & Bar, located at 5001 W. Saginaw Hwy. I love this place, but I do have to give partial credit to my cousin Sam Stiles for the find!

The atmosphere is a perfect blend of homey and chic; you can come in an evening gown or ripped jeans and still feel at ease.

There are tons of charming knickknacks, cute light fixtures and great music, whether it’s live or playing in the overhead speakers. Vibe check passed.

I come here often, but strayed from my usual order for the purpose of this review. On a whim, I ordered the soup of the day, which turned out to be broccoli cheddar.

I hadn’t eaten in 16 hours but it was a good thing to get my stomach open to the idea of food again. It wasn’t the best soup I have ever had, but it was far from the worst.

My waiter, Dakota, was a very friendly face. He said he was new, but delivered flawless service. After the two of us talked it over, I ordered the Chicken Parmesan for a total of $18.

I don’t usually order this dish, just because it feels like a weird combination to me for some reason, but I wanted to see how they did pasta AND how they cook their meat, so I really had no other choice.

To my surprise, I ate about 75 percent of it and asked for a box. The pasta was cooked well, I liked the sauce and the chicken was perfect.

I also LOVE their bread; it’s fancy and French and delicious. I ordered a scoop of ice cream, for $3.50, as an afterthought. It’s truly the perfect way to end any meal, and I can’t think of another restaurant that does it.

My total came to $31.53 but felt completely worth it. I highly recommend you also stop in and find your true North!
