The Tropical Smoothie Café offers a variety of fresh-made fast food: namely smoothies, wraps, bowls and items of that variety. There are several Tropical Smoothie locations in and around Lansing.
After a morning workout, a hearty protein intake from Tropical Smoothie sounded fantastic. I had never heard of the chain before, let alone gone.
I went to the shop located at 6527 S Cedar St. I ordered the Acai Berry Boost smoothie, made of acai, pomegranate, banana, blueberries and strawberries. I’m a bit of a picky eater and was hesitant about bananas being included, but it was honestly one of the best smoothies I’ve ever had.
For $7.59 and the decently sized cup, it was well worth it: delicious taste, filling and nourishing.
I also ordered the SuperGreen Caesar Chicken wrap for $8.89. The grilled chicken, parmesan, romaine and tomato sounding heavenly.
The wrap itself was good, nice sized for an on-the-go quick intake. The wrap also comes with the choice of a variety of sides, fruits, chips and even sweet potatoes.
My friends and I were the only customers present, yet we waited a good 20 minutes for our food. This is highly unnecessary, considering it’s a fast-food restaurant.
Additionally, that evening after eating, my stomach began to become very uncomfortable, to the point of stomach cramps. The person I went with experienced some upset feelings as well, to the point of being sick.
This may have been due to the fact that we caught some sort of food poisoning. Considering all of this, I won’t be going back for the Tropical Smoothie Café food, but definitely for a smoothie when the craving hits.
