When I was looking for a place to review, I was all for trying something new. But when the time came to actually go, I found myself craving something more simple and familiar.
Luckily for me, Lou & Harry’s Grill and Bakery, located at 1429 W. Saginaw St. suite 150 in East Lansing, had both
Lou & Harry’s is known for its gyros and burgers. It has also won awards for its fries. Since I love almost anything potato related, I was going to try those anyway. To accompany my fries, I decided on a grilled cheese.
The grilled cheese was perfectly simple: American cheese melted to gooey goodness between two slices of thick slices of bread. The bread had a little bit of sweetness to it that complemented the saltiness of the butter and cheese perfectly. It was exactly what I was hoping for.
The fries were really good. They were salted really well and cooked perfectly. Everything about the meal gave me the same kind of feeling as my favorite comfort foods, despite the fact that it was so simple.
The inside of the restaurant is small, but seemed to have plenty of seating room. The staff was nice while I was ordering, and when I was getting my food.
My total for the meal and drink came out to a little over $12.
Lou & Harry’s has another location: 211 E. Grand River Ave. in East Lansing. Neither location is far from LCC’S main campus, or the Michigan State University campus.
I very much enjoyed my experience, and am looking forward to another day when I am able to go and try something different from Lou & Harry’s menu.
