LCC students looking for a great place to grab a bang for their buck with a meal; I suggest BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse might be the place to try out.
BJ’s is located in Lansing, in the Eastwood Towne Center on Lake Lansing Road.
I went over during the weekend with my grandparents and girlfriend to try BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. It’s a very large establishment and wasn’t too busy on a Saturday evening.
It’s a pretty typical modern bar and restaurant, with one large bar on one side, and many tables on the other. I loved the vibe, and I loved having some college football on in the background while waiting for our food.
I ordered the “BJ’s Classic Crispy Chicken Sandwich.” The sandwich was on the pricy side, coming in at $15.95. The meal came with a side of fries as well, but no ketchup. When I asked, I was given a mini side of it.
The sandwich I ordered was plain with pickles. Yes, I know I am boring. It was a massive piece of breaded chicken, and was delicious. The only issue I took was the far too crispy, and seemingly burnt bun, but it wasn’t bad tasting.
For my drink, I tried the handcrafted root beer. It was sensational. I’m one to try different root beers anywhere I go, and this one was great. It came in a large mug, and with refills. They also had vanilla and orange cream soda, which I was unable to try, but plan to next time.
Finally, for dessert, I was able to try a BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse world famous “Pizookie.”
My girlfriend and I shared the dessert. It was $8.95, and not very big. It was a chocolate chunk cookie, with ice cream on top, it was very good, just like all of our food, but overpriced.
Overall, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse was a very solid experience. We had good service. The staff attended to most requests and were great about bringing refills.
I loved eating good food and hanging out while watching games with good people. But the restaurant loses a star for the mixture of expensive pricing, lack of condiments and small-portion size for the dessert, given the price.
It is worth noting, The Lookout Associate Editor Chloe Gregg mentioned a bad experience at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. It’s safe to say, I cannot relate. I will be returning very soon.
