'Final Frenzy' to help students de-stress

As a student, there is nothing more stressful than finals, but LCC employees are there to make it as stressless as possible with “Finals Frenzy.”

The event is basically a five-day carnival of everything students could ever need to get through their last week.

 Throughout the first, second and third floor of the TLC Library there will be a variety of activities available to any students who like massages, yoga, crafts, popcorn, therapy dogs or video games.

It all sounds a little too good to be true, but three of LCC’s customer relations specialists named Yvonne, Emily and Abby confirmed the event is going to be everything that is promised.

“Basically, it is an event where we host some various activities in this space,” Yvonne said. “We still have our tutors helping people with classes and exam prep parties as always, but for Finals Frenzy we try to do a week of extra activities.

“We’ve got puzzles and coloring and games. We are going to have a yoga room on one of the days. We are also introducing a new activity for students to be able to decorate their graduation caps, since graduation is coming up.”

The hours of the event mimic the operation hours of the library, so from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from noon to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday, there will be a reason to make a trip to the TLC building.

“If we are open, there will be something for you to check out,” Emily said, with a smile.

Emily and Yvonne are responsible for the first-floor plans, but quickly pointed to Abby for more information on the goings-on above.

“We are separate departments,” Abby said. “So, some parts are separated but we wanted to advertise it together.

“We mostly do the same things, crafts and coloring supplies. It’s really about trying to have multiple locations. We take up three floors and some people only ever see the first floor.”

Though her words make the differences between the floors seem small, she did share that there is definitely one thing that will set them apart.

“We did get some spicy snacks,” Abby said. “We will have Takis and Flaming Hot Cheetos, which we haven’t had before. The snacks are the biggest things; people love the snacks.”

So, come pet a puppy, eat a snack or get a massage because, no matter how hard things might be, LCC staff will always be there to lend a hand.

“Our goal,” Abby said, “is just to get the students fed and destressed so they can have a successful finals week.”
