LCC will host a commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. on May 11, 2023. This will be LCC’s
65th commencement ceremony.
The ceremony will take place at Jack Breslin Student Events Center on the campus of Michigan State University. Guest speaker will be Quentin L. Messer Jr. from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, who is president and chairman of the Michigan Strategic Fund.
“He is the state’s leader for economic development,” LCC President Steve Robinson said. “He is a very dynamic speaker and he is a part of Governor Whitmer’s cabinet.”
Messer will be talking about the role that students play in the economic future of Michigan, Robinson added.
“LCC selects a new speaker each year,” said Stephanie Decator of the LCC Student Affairs Department, “one that will bring an encouraging and uplifting message as graduates begin the next chapter of their future.”
According to Decator, there are 1,993 students invited to participate in the commencement ceremony.
LCC will also hold other ceremonies for the following fields of study:
- Dental Hygiene pinning – May 4
- Fire Academy graduation – May 4
- Police Academy graduation – May 5
- Nurse Pinning ceremony – May 9
- The Early College convocation – May 9
- Massage graduation – May 9
- ERESA awards night - May 10
- EMS graduation - May 10
Graduation can mean a lot of different things to different people. For Chloe Gregg, who is graduating from the LCC Dental Hygiene program, it is only the beginning.
“I feel relieved that I’ve finally made it to the finish line,” Gregg said. “To me, graduation stands for the next chapter of my life. I’m extremely excited to see where this takes me.”
