This week marks a major milestone in my life … I’m turning 21!

I’m the youngest in my family (by quite a lot) so this is something that I have been looking forward to for a very long time, even though my family may feel a bit different.

To celebrate, my family and I will be heading to a previously reviewed restaurant of mine called “Cosmos.” They have arguably the best pizza in Lansing (now that Detroit Frankie’s has closed) as well as a long list of unique alcoholic drinks that I’ve been itching to try ever since the first time I visited.

I do, unfortunately, have school the day of my birthday, but I luckily only have it for one class, from 1 to 5 p.m. Therefore, I will be able to have a nice breakfast with my boyfriend (fingers crossed it's delivered in bed) and then time to have dinner afterward.

I don’t have any particularly crazy plans to celebrate turning 21, but I am excited for finally being able to go out to the bars and clubs with my friends. Before COVID-19, I used to go often to Spiral, which used to be a fun 18+ gay dance bar in the Lansing area. Spiral closed during COVID. There really wasn’t any other 18+ dance club in the Lansing area and I wasn’t willing to pay for a fake ID, so I’ve been waiting ever since to go out.

Needless to say, I’m extremely excited to go dancing again, especially now that I won’t have big black X’s on the backs of my hands.

So here’s to a new semester (and my last semester) and turning 21!
