LCC hosted a Program and Career Showcase on LCC’s West Campus on Tuesday, March 12. The event ran from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and was free to attend for current and future LCC students, as well as members of the community.

The showcase provided information on multiple aspects of what LCC has to offer. From degree and certificate options, to career paths forward, there was someone there who had useful information on the topic.

The showcase featured information on health and human services, science and mathematics, technical careers, and liberal arts. There were hands-on activities, demonstrations and a few booths that had free LCC branded things like pens, notepads and lanyards.

Manning a booth on the upper floor, Sociology Prof. Dr. Pamela Smith said she hoped the fair could teach students and the community the helpfulness of taking classes in sociology.

“I hope it makes our students, or not just our students but the community, aware of the different courses sociology offers,” Smith said, “and how we can help them understand how society works, how people understand society, and how they also impact society.”

On the main floor of the event, librarians Kelli Herm and Nadia El Anani were there to show students that there are plenty of resources available.

“Just awareness that there is a library and resources available in all formats.” El Anani said. “Just being present so that students are aware. Because we have this over here, and students didn’t even know it existed, that room. That would be kind of an arm of the library, with the help zone and the learning commons.”

Added Herm: “Since we’re down on campus, we want people to know we’re here and we’re here to support their programs in different formats, so both electronic resources that you have access to anytime if you’re a student.”

Friends Jasmine Stuart and Autumn Williams were in attendance to see what the fair had to offer.

“I just came to look to see what other programs there are, because I do dual enrollment here,” Williams shared.

Added Stuart: “I just came to see what they all have to offer for everything.”
