LCC’s second-ever Campus Crawl will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, and Thursday, Jan. 18, in the Gannon Building of the downtown campus location.
Representatives from the Office of Student Compliance, the Student Life Office, Testing Services, the Transfer Center, the Counseling Department, the Center for Student Access, the Career Center, the Adult Resource Center and Academic Advisers will all be present to explain their possible role in students’ academic future.
Free food will be provided. There is talk of pizza and Jimmy Johns, but every department is responsible for bringing something different so the menu simply cannot be finalized.
School supplies and a grand prize giveaway has also been planned for any student who attends. LCC has officially confirmed that the grand prize giveaway is a scholarship from the LCC Foundation.
Internship Development Manager Rebecca Sowa has been a big part of the planning process. She said the first campus crawl was a lot of fun and set the bar high.
“Throughout those two days,” Sowa said, “we saw close to 150 students.”
This is an event all about shaking hands and getting to know a few new faces. It is important because if there is one thing everyone can agree on, it is that half the battle of succeeding in college really is networking.
“A lot of our departments are located right here in the Gannon Building,” Sowa said. “So it is a fun opportunity to get some free food, free stuff and to meet the staff that can help you with a variety of resources.”
