The 2024 LCC library bookcart naming contest has come to a close and the winners have been named. The contest began this past March and was open to the entire LCC community.

Library Help Zone Employee Aubrey Johnson said she had a lot of fun organizing the contest, and even entered a few names herself.

“It’s going to add something to my day,” Johnson said. “It’s going to bring a small smile to my face when I see the ones that I named, but it is also going to bring a little bit of lightness and fun to the space.”

The winning names are as follows:

  • Dolly Carton
  • Cart2-D2
  • Carti B
  • Cart Simpson
  • The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Library
  • Mario Cart
  • Cart Me Up, Scotty
  • Achille’s Wheel
  • Carty McFly
  • Shelvis Presley
  • Cart Cobain
  • Cart Dracula
  • Es Cart Go
  • Lord Voldecart
  • Wheely Dan
  • Agatha Cartsie
  • Hot Wheels
  • Cartasaurus Rex
  • Dewey Decimator
  • Jean-Luc Picart
  • Ride & Prejudice
  • Cart Garfunkel
  • Cart Vader
  • Napoleon Bonacarte
  • One Cart to Rule Them All
  • Wheels of Fortune
  • Magna Carta
  • The Great Cartsby
  • The Tell-Tale Cart
  • A Bookcart Named Desire
  • A Cart by Any Other Name
  • Cart of Darkness
  • Leonardo DiCartrio
  • Salvador Trolley
  • Shelf Control
  • Shelf Silverstein
  • Wagon Ball Z
  • Ziggy Cart-Dust
  • Buddy Trolley
  • We Are Borg

Johnson said if things were up to her, she would make the cart-naming contest annual event. To her, a library full of kids is a sign of great hope for Lansing’s future.

“It means the future generation will still be into books,” she said. “The fact that there is still a space that they can come and get physical books is a good thing for the community.”

Library Communication Specialist Abby Tebeau would like it known that the library, located in the TLC building on LCC’s main campus, will have a few new things in it this fall, including a craft room and a library of things.
