At Lansing Community College’s Board of Trustees first meeting of the year on Monday, Jan. 23, the board swore trustees Ryan Buck and Angela Mathews into new six-year term positions following their re-election in November.

According to Marilyn Twine, LCC’s Public Relations Director, Buck and Mathews were both administered oaths of office.

“Trustee Buck was administered the oath of office from the Honorable Morgan Cole and Trustee Mathews’ oath was administered by the Honorable Kristen Simmons,” Twine said.

Mathews was elected to serve as board chair for the coming year. Trustee Lawrence Hidalgo Jr. was elected vice chair. Trustee LaShunda Thomas was elected as secretary. Trustee Robert Proctor, who was unable to attend on Monday, was elected treasurer.

During the meeting, as the newly elected chair, Mathews made new appointments to LCC’s Audit Committee, naming Proctor as chair, and choosing trustees Thomas and Samantha Vaive as appointees.

“Of additional interest to students, the trustees held a first read for LCC’s 2023-24 course fees, and will vote on them at the Feb. 20, 2023 board meeting,” Twine said.
