LCC is offering online, in-person or hybrid classes toward earning certification or a degree in automotive areas of study. These classes are for those who show an interest in repairing cars and trucks; internal and superficial.

“We’re here to teach students to be competent and successful auto technicians,” said Marvin Argersinger, lead faculty in Transportation Maintenance Technologies. “We have National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) accredited training facilities, meaning (students) will receive the best training in a modern and growing environment.”

Along with accredited training facilities, the programs are accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Being NATEF accredited ensures that student will be receiving training of the highest standards.

“All of the instructors are proficient in teaching students about maintenance on not only gas driven vehicles, but hybrid and electric as well,” Argersinger said.

Students can trust that when enrolling in one of these auto tech programs, they will have every “tool” they need to become highly successful technicians.

“There will be a tool showcase where companies from around the area educate students on possible equipment that can help their future success, Argersinger said. “Those tools are available for purchase as well.”

According to Argersinger, Auto tech students have the opportunity to participate in a benefit event. LCC partners with the Capitol City Old Car Club (CCOCC) for a benefit car show held on LCC’s west campus. This year’s event is set for June 3.

The proceeds from the car show go to a scholarship fund that will be awarded to LCC students enrolled in the auto tech program. There is always music and food, rain or shine, according to the CCOCC.
