The Lookout Associate Editor/Photo Editor Kaitlyn Delaney recently sat down with men’s basketball player Jamison Eklund. Currently a freshman at LCC, Eklund graduated from Pewamo Westphalia High School.
When did you start playing basketball?
“I started playing basketball in about third grade for my hometown team.”
What is your favorite thing about basketball?
“I think my favorite thing about basketball is just playing with my friends. And then
for college, meeting new guys. Of course, winning is my main goal, but my favorite
thing would probably be making new friends.”
Who is someone who inspires you, in the sport or out of it?
“Probably my dad. He started me off at a young age, and he’s raised me to be who I
am today.”
Is there one piece of advice you’ve been given that sticks with you?
“One piece of advice would probably be from my dad: just never give up. I’ve always
been pushed to be the best version of myself as I can, and he’s helped me become that.”
Do you have any game-day routines?
“No not really, just mainly listen to country music before the game.”
Do you have any personal or team goals for the rest of the season?
“Team goal, of course is to finish strong. We’ve got about six or seven games left,
so finish strong in those, and end up making tournament, and maybe making a run.”
Why did you choose LCC?
“I chose to attend LCC because I wasn’t really getting the looks that I thought I
could get in college, so I knew that if I came here, Coach (Mike) Ingram would help
me out with that, and he is right now.”
What are your plans after LCC?
“I will be attending Northwood (University). I’ll be going to play basketball there.”
