The Lookout Staff Writer Jonah Unger recently spoke to LCC’s women's basketball player Skyy Lockhart. The 5-foot-9 center is from Grand Ledge.

What is your major?
“Nursing. I took a human anatomy class in high school and I just loved it so much. I’m just a people person and so it kind of connected. That’s the journey I want to take.”

Where and when did you start playing basketball?
“Grand Ledge ... I played through middle school, elementary, as well as high school.

Would you say you started playing in elementary school?
“No, I started playing when I was very young, before elementary. Probably about 4 years old, like (in) little rec. leagues.”

What are your goals as a player?
“My goal as a player is just to improve in what I can do for my teammates, whether that's rebounding or getting up the floor.”

How long have you played for LCC, and what is your favorite thing about playing here?
“I have been playing for two years. My favorite thing is probably the team atmosphere. Even though we can take hard losses, we know that we are still a team and still a family.”

What is your favorite thing about basketball as a sport?
“Just the people around basketball. Basketball is more than a game.”

What are your plans after LCC?
“I plan on staying with LCC to finish the nursing program, and then I plan on being a registered nurse.”
