The Lookout Staff Writer Jonah Unger recently interviewed LCC softball player Peyton Lehman, a sophomore center fielder who graduated from Olivet High School.
When did you start playing softball?
“I have been playing softball ever since I was in kindergarten and joined my first
T-ball team.”
What was your inspiration for getting involved in softball?
“My biggest inspiration for getting involved in softball was mom. She coached me all
the way through rec ball teams and even helped coach my team in high school. She would
never hesitate to go up to the batting cage with me or even play catch in our backyard.
Her love for the game has definitely shaped me into the player that I am today.”
What is your favorite thing about the sport?
“My favorite thing about the sport is the team aspect that it brings. I know that
if I am having a bad day at the plate or in the field, I will have eight other girls
in the lineup that will pick me up.”
Did you have a favorite player growing up?
“Jennie Finch was my favorite player growing up. Previously being a pitcher, I had
always looked up to her and how she played the game. I even got to attend one of her
pitching camps and got to meet her.”
What's your favorite thing about playing at LCC and why?
“My teammates. I have been really fortunate to have been given such great teammates
to push me in becoming a better player and person, both years here at LCC. LCC softball
has brought me some of my best friends over these past two years.”
What is your major?
"I am majoring in forensic science."
What are your plans after LCC?
"I plan on attending Madonna University to study forensic science, while also continuing
to play softball."
