Athlete Spotlight: Madison Travis

The Lookout Staff Writer Jonah Unger recently interviewed LCC softball player Madison
Travis. The freshman is a pitcher and first baseman who attended Farwell High School.
What was your inspiration for getting involved in softball?
“I got involved in softball after attending a practice with my best friend. After
attending that practice, I knew softball was something I wanted to pursue.”
When did you start playing softball?
“I started playing when I was 10 years old. I have been playing softball for about
eight years.”
What is your favorite thing about the sport?
“I love how competitive softball is and how you get to come together with your team.
We all push each other and grow as players.”
Did you have a favorite player growing up?
“My favorite player growing up was Sierra Romero. She played for the University of
Michigan and she was a great hitter. I always looked up to her and how competitive
she was.”
What's your favorite thing about playing at LCC and why?
“My favorite aspect of playing for LCC is how competitive it is and how hard the coaches
push us. It has made me realize how mentally strong you need to be to stay competitive
and win games.”
What is your major in college?
“Transfer sciences.”
What are your plans after LCC?
“My plan is to try and commit to another university to play two more years of softball
and complete my degree.”
