The Lookout Associate Editor/Photo Editor Kaitlyn Delaney recently spoke with LCC baseball player Sean Bartlett. A graduate of Howell High School, Bartlett is currently a freshman at LCC.
When did you start playing baseball?
“As early as I can remember. It was something that my parents put me in when I was
like 3, so as long as I can remember.”
What position do you play? What made you want to play that position?”
“I’m a pitcher, and the reasoning for that is honestly because I could not hit the
ball, so I couldn’t really play a different position without being able to hit the
ball.”
Do you have any moments from playing baseball that stand out?
“There was one time in, I think, 12U or 13U, where I threw a no-hitter. I got the
trophy for the tournament when we won it, so that was pretty cool.”
Is there one piece of advice you’ve been given that sticks out with you?
“To focus on the controllables. It’s something that our coach really preaches here
… focusing on what you can control in baseball, as baseball is a very game of failure.
So, focus on what you can control, not what you can’t control.”
Do you have any personal or team goals for the rest of the season?
“I think the team goals and personal goals kind of align with just trying to win it
all, pretty much.”
Do you have any game-day routines?
“I always have four eggs and two toast on game days, over easy.”
If you weren’t a baseball player, what sport would you have played?
“I probably would have (participated in) wrestling.”
What are your plans after LCC?
“Hopefully to continue playing baseball, either (at) a college or somewhere in general.”
