The Lookout Associate Editor/Photo Editor Kaitlyn Delaney recently sat down with LCC baseball player Conner Prahl. Currently a freshman at LCC, Prahl graduated from Brighton High School.
When did you start playing baseball?
“I started playing baseball as soon as I could walk, and from there it never stopped.
There was never a moment growing up when I was found not doing something baseball
related.”
What position do you play? What made you want to play that position?
“I play first base here at LCC. I was placed at first base my sophomore year of high
school due to my height. I have a powerful swing, too, so it fits the position.”
Do you have any moments from playing baseball that stand out?
“There are multiple great moments from baseball that I’ll never forget, some positive
and some I wish never happened, such as the multiple trips to the emergency room for
stitches or my broken elbow.”
Is there one piece of advice you’ve been given that sticks out with you?
“Don’t overthink the struggles and the bad moments. Ten years from now you’re not
going to remember them.”
Do you have any personal or team goals for the rest of the season?
“Going to the College World Series and playing in Enid, Okla. Growing up, winning
a College World Series has always been a goal of mine. This year’s team has the skill
to win a College World Series. It’s something we are all working toward on this team.”
Do you have any game-day routines?
“No. Surprisingly I’m one of the very few guys on the team who don’t have a game -ay
routine.”
If you weren’t a baseball player, what sport would you have played?
“Football. Growing up I was always asked to play tight end.”
What are your plans after LCC?
“Not too sure yet. I have other goals to reach first that will determine my future.”
