The Lookout Staff Writer Jonah Unger recently spoke with LCC freshman softball infielder Ali Holman. She graduated from Zeeland High School, and is an education major.
What was a big inspiration for getting involved in softball?
“My biggest inspirations are my parents. They were the ones who got me involved in
the sport and have always supported me and pushed me to be the best possible player
I can be.”
How long have you been playing softball?
“I have been playing softball ever since I was 4 years old, and was involved in travel
and school ball up until now.”
What is your favorite thing about the sport?
“I love the competitive aspect of the sport; not only when I am playing against other
teams, but within my own team as well, in order to earn a position on the field.”
Did you have a favorite player growing up?
“My favorite player growing up was Kaitlyn Eveland. She played for Michigan State
and was their third baseman. I have always looked up to her and how she played competitively.”
What is your favorite thing about playing at LCC and why?
“My favorite thing about playing at LCC is the impact it has had on me as a player.
Because of my coaches and teammates, I have learned so much mentally and physically
about the game. … It has ultimately led me to become a better athlete and player.”
What positions do you play?
“Since coming to LCC, I have become a utility player, so I am all over the field,
but I specialize in middle infield and third base.”
What are your plans after LCC?
“I am hoping to commit to another college to continue to play softball and finish
my degree.”
