The Lookout Staff Writer Jayden Hewitt recently chatted with sophomore cross country runner Erik Reiber. Reiber attended Chelsea High School and graduated in 2021.
When did you start running cross country?
“I started running my freshman year of high school.”
What is one thing you like to do before you run?
“Before I run, I like to stretch to make sure I’m not going to get hurt before my
run even starts.”
What are some team and/or personal goals you have for this season?
“The guys’ team this year is going for first at nationals. As of right now our team
is looking very good. Overall I have high hopes. Personally my goal is to get All-American
again and be in (the top) 10 at nationals.”
What are some hobbies you have outside of cross country?
“I play video games like “Rocket League” with a lot with friends. I like to travel
also.”
Do you have a favorite moment from high school or college during cross country?
“My favorite moment during cross country was ninth-grade cross camp. My friends decided
they wanted to take the boat out, and didn’t understand how to use it very well, and
ended up tipping the whole (boat) sideways and it turning upside down.”
What’s the biggest difference between high school and college?
“The biggest difference for me was the making sure I stay on top of my homework and
classes more, because (college classes) are a lot more to handle than high school.”
