The Lookout Associate Editor/Photo Editor Kaitlyn Delaney recently sat down to chat with basketball player Zavier Thomason. A freshman forward for LCC, Thomason graduated from Romulus High School.
When did you start playing basketball?
“I started playing basketball in the third grade.”
What is your favorite thing about basketball?
“The competitiveness. I like going at it with other people.”
Who is someone who inspires you, in the sport or out of it?
“(Milwaukee Bucks guard) Damian Lillard. He inspired me because of how hard he worked,
and he’s underappreciated and like an underdog usually when he goes into things.”
Is there one piece of advice you’ve been given that sticks with you?
“Have winner habits, like staying disciplined. (Like) when I’ve got to go to practice
or something even when I don’t want to go.”
Do you have any game-day routines?
“I listen to the song ‘Ultralight Beam’ by Kanye. I listen to that every game day
and that’s it, really.”
Do you have any personal or team goals for the rest of the season?
“Play together. Lock in and win these last few games.”
Why did you choose LCC?
“Originally it was for basketball, but I like how the school looks, like it gives
like a modern, homey feel.”
What are your plans after LCC?
“Hopefully, I’ll be going to a four-year university, so that I can further my education
and continue playing basketball.”
