The Lookout Associate Editor/Photo Editor Kaitlyn Delaney recently sat down to speak with women’s basketball player Peyton Anderson. Anderson is currently a freshman at LCC, and graduated from DeWitt High School.

When did you start playing basketball?
“I think in about fourth or fifth grade.”

What is your favorite thing about basketball?
“Probably the bonds that I make with my team. We’re playing together for about half of a year, so we see each other every day. It’s pretty special, I think.”

Who is someone who inspires you, in the sport or out of it?
“Probably my father. He also played basketball, so he’s helped me a lot with the game. He was my coach one year, which helps, too. And he gives me a lot of confidence.”

Is there one piece of advice you’ve been given that sticks with you?
“Work hard, no matter what. I learned that some people may try to get you down because you’re working hard; make fun of how hard you are working. But working hard has always paid off, no matter what people say.”

Do you have any game-day routines?
“I have some superstitions, like wearing the same socks and undergarments every game. Always get a good breakfast, that’s for sure, and then a lot of the time I watch film from the other team.”

Do you have any personal or team goals for the rest of the season?
“(We) want to make it as far as we can in the tournament. I think it would be cool to see how far we get.”

Why did you choose LCC?
“Probably the coaching, and I already knew some of my teammates and I was excited to play with them. And it’s close to home.”

What are your plans after LCC?
“I’m not completely sure. I do want to transfer to a four-year university, and maybe pursue business or insurance, or something in that field.”
