The Lookout Staff Writer Jonah Unger recently spoke with Ja'Mya Suttles, a freshman basketball player for LCC who attended Lansing Eastern High School.
What do you like most about playing for LCC?
“The environment. My brother played for LCC a few years ago, and so watching him play
just really fueled me to get out here and play.”
What's your favorite thing about basketball as a sport?
“Probably the competitiveness. If you mess up on offense you can go ahead and make
it up on defense. There aren't too many sports where you can run back and forth.”
How has basketball impacted your life as a whole?
“For me it's kind of an outlet. So if there ever is anything going on once you hit
the court, once you hit those four lines everything just goes out the window and it's
time to work.”
What is your major and what are your plans after high school?
“I'm in allied health services. My plans after college are to have my associate degree,
and I'll either be doing MRIs or X-rays. So come see me at a hospital.”
What are your expectations for your team this season?
“My expectations are to win some games. I'm ready to win. I'm ready to be a champion.”
