The Lookout Photo Editor Kaitlyn Delaney recently talked with cross country runner Reva Lance. A graduate of Fowler High School, Lance is currently a sophomore at LCC.
When did you begin running cross country?
“My sophomore year of high school.”
What made you want to run cross country?
“Well, I did track, and my best friend now, we became really close at the end of freshman
year (of) track. She always did cross, so she kind of convinced me.”
Who is someone who inspires you, in the sport or out of it?
“My mom. She’s just always super encouraging, and she was a really good runner, so
she always pushed me to do it.”
Is there one piece of advice you have been given that sticks with you?
“Something my best friend always says, that I think about in the middle of a race,
is that it’s going to hurt either way. So you might as well run faster.”
Do you have any personal or team goals for the rest of the season?
“Personally, is just to finish the race, because I haven’t raced in so long. I keep
having ankle issues. Team goal, is just to do well at nationals.”
Do you have any moments from running in high school or LCC, or earlier, that stand
out?
“All of my high school running, there were so many little goofy moments that I could
go into. It was always just so fun. And then obviously winning nationals last year
(with LCC) was a super special moment.”
Do you have any pre-run routines?
“I have to dance to “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift with my best friend Olivia. We
did that all throughout high school. She just joined here this year, so we got to
continue that, so that’s super fun.”
What are your plans after LCC?
“I don’t know yet. I have no idea.”
