Staff Writer Arianne Olayinka recently interviewed LCC basketball player Dawson Lott. The freshman graduated from Webberville High School and is currently majoring in sports management.
Q: What position do you play?
A: “Forward.”
Q: How long have you been playing ball?
A: “Ever since I’ve been able to pick up a ball. I started playing in the third grade.”
Q: What has been the highlight of your basketball career so far?
A: “Coming back to win the (MCCAA West) league when we were down a lot of games. (We
just) showed everybody we weren’t done.”
Q: What makes a great teammate?
A: “What makes a great teammate is (someone who) picks (their teammates) up when they’re
down.”
Q: What does your game-day routine look like?
A: “I don’t really have a game-day routine. I know people believe in jinx, like if
you don’t do this then you won’t play good. I just have something good to eat and
listen to music to clear my head before the game.”
Q: What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve gained from your coaches?
A: “Nothing is ever too far-fetched. Always strive for something in life.”
Q: What are your future basketball goals?
A: “To that next level. (It) really has always been a dream of mine to play the sport
of basketball for as long as possible; not only to get to the next level but to see
myself improve as a man in life.”
