The Spring Art Awards is now accepting submissions from any currently enrolled LCC student through April 24.

“The Art Awards are an annual art competition open to students at Lansing Community College,” said LCC Coordinator of Scholarships and Operations Scott Skowronek. “The awards are judged by a panel of local artists, donors and LCC art faculty.

“Art that is selected is purchased by the (LCC) Foundation and gifted to Lansing Community College for display around campus.”

Skowronek said the Spring Art Awards are generously supported by the Eric Zimmerman Visual Art Fund and the Lance (Schade) Earhart and Victoria Earhart Scholarship fund.

According to Skowronek only one entry per student is allowed.

“The Schade Earhart scholarship requires the submission of one physical piece and a portfolio containing at least five pieces,” Skowronek said. “The Zimmerman award requires the submission of one physical piece.”

Skowronek said the physical-piece submission must be brought to the LCC Foundation Office.

There are 10 possible winners for the Spring Art Awards, plus a brief awards ceremony.

“There are eight $400 purchase awards from the Eric Zimmerman Visual Art Fund,” Skowronek said. “There are two $1,000 scholarships available from the Lance (Schade) Earhart and Victoria Earhart Scholarship Fund.”

Online applications are due by the end of April 24, and physical art submission are due between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on April 27 at the LCC Foundation Office.
