A shocking number of clubs have popped up at LCC during fall semester, including the recent LGBTQIA2S+ Club. Advisers Lucas Van Duyne and Tara Hardy have created an inclusive student club for the LCC gay community and its allies.

LCC itself has put forth effort in engaging with the LGBTQ+ community on campus, namely with a questionnaire. With the addition of this club, members of this community now have an inclusive space.

The club recently had its first meeting to go over the vision, goals and plans for the upcoming spring semester. From the sound of it, the intent is to bring together LCC’s gay community.

“We wanted to bring some visibility to the LGBTQ folks, to create a safe space” Co-Advisor Van Duyne said.

The club has a tentative meeting planned for Wednesday, Jan. 31. It will be a meet-and-greet for the members, along with a plan to create a regular meeting place and schedule.

Not only is the addition of a club for the LGBTQIA2S+ members of the community a beneficial idea, but it’s quickly gaining traction.

For more information regarding the club, contact either adviser, Tara Hardy at hardyt6@star.lcc.edu or Lucas Van Duyne Vanduynl@star.lcc.edu.
