There is a diverse group of student clubs offered at Lansing Community College; there is even an Artificial Intelligence Club.
Started and overseen by Adviser Adam Richardson from LCC’s west campus, the AI Club brings together students who have an interest in the topic, regardless of degree.
The members bring forward thoughts, ideas and even research within their weekly WebEx meetings, discussing advancements and questions within the ever-growing field of artificial intelligence.
“It’s fun,” Richardson said. “I don’t know of any other field that changes as fast as the AI field is right now.”
The club’s goal is to bring awareness and exposure of the well-known, yet mostly obscure, innerworkings of AI.
Club Vice President Alex Gorton spoke about his involvement with the group.
“I believe the best part is getting to discuss the newest technology and events with a diverse group,” Gorton said.
Due to such low exposure, most of the club members have come from within the CTI program. However, it is open to any and all interested students.
“You don’t need a technological background to have a good conversation,” Richardson explained. “The goal is to foster an environment where students take the initiative.”
With such diverse content and field of study there are plenty of options,” Gorton said.
“As a club our communication is very open and we are able to share ideas and perspectives in an inclusive environment,” Gorton said.
The club holds a WebEx meeting every Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone with questions or seeking more information can email Adam Richardson at richaa54@lcc.edu.
