The LCC Library is participating in the celebration of controversial book titles that have been banned across decades.
Students can visit the library and ask how they can win a prize of a bag full of these titles.
Library Communications Specialist Abby Tebeau spoke about the celebration.
“The Library participates in Banned Books Week every year to celebrate our freedom to read and access to information,” Tebeau said.
Students are welcome to explore the displays of banned books, which are all available for checking out.
“Last year LCC’s Beyond the Book choice, “Gender Queer,” was the most challenged book of 2022,” Tebeau said. “This title and many more classic and contemporary titles are on our display this week.”
According to the LCC Events Calendar, the displays carry an array of books that have challenged the status quo, as well as brought new perceptions and ways of thinking.
The library will have the display open through Saturday, Oct. 7.
Located in the TLC building on the second floor, the library is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday noon to 8 p.m.
