LCC Women's Network

A Healthy Holiday Knowledge Symposium

It is a yearly struggle – How do we get ourselves and our families through the holidays without over stressing ourselves, overeating, and going crazy? We hope to give you some helpful information and a chance to talk to our friends from HHS’s Health and Wellness and Child Development Programs.

The LCC Women’s Network will be hosting an open house so you can come at your leisure to talk with the subject matter experts. We will have three stations for you to visit:

1.

Healthy Eating – This station will have helpful hints and handouts with tips and tricks to help our eating stay on track through the holiday season. We will have samples of an appetizer, entrée, and dessert made with low-calorie options in mind. In addition, the first 40 visitors to this station will receive a cookbook, The Holiday Cookbook: 30 Thanksgiving Recipes Which Are Easy, Stress-Free, Healthy, and Perfect for the Holiday Season, by Sheila Fuller.

2.

Health and Fitness – This station will have helpful hints on how to stay on track with our fitness routines or how to sneak quick fitness practices into our busy schedules. We will have tips handouts for you to take with you.

3.

Family Time – This station will have helpful hints on how to help you and your family get through the hectic time when schedules are disrupted, routines changed, and all that goes with the holidays. Handouts will provide information for families with different age ranges of children, from infants all the way up to teens.

We will also have a 20-30 minute presentation by HHS Faculty member, Abby Richey, MS, RD, on fitness and nutrition beginning at 12:15 p.m.

We hope you will join us for this event and take away some useful tips as we enter into another busy holiday season.
