Transportation & Engineering Technologies Department - Heavy Equipment Operator Program

Heavy Equipment Operator Program

It takes a unique individual - person who's mechanically inclined, has a lot of dexterity and frankly, isn't afraid to get behind the controls of some of the construction industry's largest heavy equipment machinery. If you possess these characteristics, Lansing Community College has a training program that will allow you to turn your interest into a career as a heavy equipment operator. We want you in our Heavy Equipment Operator training program.

Construction, trucking, transportation and other employers need to have the expertise of heavy equipment operators.  Contractors are having a tough time locating qualified men and women to run their big equipment. To address this need, Lansing Community College has partnered with one of the area's premier heavy-equipment suppliers, AIS Construction Equipment, to offer students practical training to become a credentialed heavy equipment operator.

With LCC and AIS, you will learn to safely and efficiently operate and maintain bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, and forklifts. The time couldn't be better for you to enter this career path. After successfully completing the 8-week Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate of Completion Program, you will have the academic preparation and practical training needed to compete for career starts that can pay you anywhere from $10 to $25 an hour or more, depending on the employer and your level of experience.
