Student Senate 

A comprehensive student leadership development experience which:

• Provides highly structured and flexible leadership experiences;

• Instills and inspires a positive sense of service and leadership

STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO THE PRESIDENT

Membership

• Two student representatives from each of the following academic divisions: Student & Academic Support, Liberal Studies, and Careers

• Two student at-large representatives

• All Leadership Academy participants
  

Qualifications

• Students are self-nominated or nominated by LCC faculty, staff or other students

• 2.0 G.P.A. or higher

• In good standing (i.e. not on academic or social probation)

• Enrolled for at least six credits

Responsibilities

• Meet with the President or his/her representative monthly to communicate student concerns, opinions and viewpoints from a divisional/at-large student representative perspective

Responsibilities

• Be available throughout Board of Trustees meetings to express student opinions and viewpoints

• Review and make recommendations to SAS Dean and Student Services Council for proposed Student Organizations seeking Official College Recognition

Time Commitment

• Two to four hours per month

STUDENT ORGANIZATION COUNCIL (Electronic Networking Group)

Membership

• All active student organization members

Benefits

• Bi-monthly Web-page Student Organization Council Newsletter (paper copy will also be provided)

• Participation in annual Student Organization Council Recognition Banquet, Welcome Week and other Student Life Sponsored events that support Student Organization goals and objectives. E.g. fund-raising recruitment, student recognition

• Student organization fellowship and information sharing

• Represent student ideas, interests, opinions and concerns to Administration, Board, Faculty and Students

Responsibilities

• Decision making role in College process for new student organizations seeking official College student organization status
