New Course Offering - Nanotechnology
The National Science Foundation predicts there will be 7 million nanotech jobs worldwide by 2015, approaching the number of automotive jobs today. This is your opportunity to explore this new technology and gain valuable training.
Lansing
Community College (LCC) offers NANO 130, a course which provides
a comprehensive introduction to the rapidly developing field of
Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. This course emphasizes
cooperative learning approaches involving strong student
participation with team assignments and is supplemented by
invited talks, laboratory visits, and other activities.
The topics addressed include properties and applications of nanosized materials, such as carbon nanotubes and aerogels; preparation methods of nanomaterials; and properties of nanoelectronics, nanomedicines, nanophotonics, MEMS and NEMS.
NANO 130 will be accepted as electives in the Chemical Technology, Chemical Process Technology, Molecular Biotechnology and Environmental Technology AAS degree programs at LCC. The prerequisites are Reading level 5, Writing level 6, and Math level 6 or MATH112 concurrently.
