What Are Online Courses?

A Brief Overview

Online classes cover the same material and meet the same course objectives as those courses offered on-campus.  The difference is in the method of delivery of the course.  Students never have to come to campus to take online classes at LCC.  Everything is done online via the Internet, except some courses requiring testing.  Tests can be taken on LCC's campus in the Assessment Center or at an arranged proctored site near where the student lives.  Online courses offer the flexibility that on-campus or traditional courses do not.  They can be done from anywhere in the world, at the time of day that is convenient to the student.

Online classes are taught over the Internet using a website called Angel.  A real instructor teaches online courses.  The instructor posts lecture materials and assignments on Angel for the student to read and complete.  These classes are NOT correspondence courses you can do at your own pace!  There are due dates for readings and assignments and must be completed on a regular basis.  There is just not a specific class "time" that a student needs to be online.
