Lansing Community College begins Process to Fill Vacant Board Seat

LANSING, MICH. - The Lansing Community College (LCC) Board of Trustees has begun the process to fill the Trustee position vacated by Dr. Judith Berry who resigned at the October 26, 2015 Board of Trustees meeting. Dr. Berry was elected to the Board in November 2014. Her term would have expired December 31, 2020.

Applications will be available beginning Monday, October 26. Application packets may be obtained on campus from Benita Duncan, Executive Assistant, Board of Trustees, in Room 307.5, of the Administration Building at 610 North Capitol Avenue, in Lansing, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. They may also be accessed online at lcc.edu/BOTapp.

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, a resident of the LCC district, and a registered voter. The LCC district encompasses the school districts of Bath, Dansville, DeWitt, East Lansing, Grand Ledge, Haslett, Holt, Lansing, Leslie, Mason, Okemos, Stockbridge, Waverly, Webberville, and Williamston.

The person appointed to this unpaid position will hold office until December 31, 2016. The election to fill the remaining four years of this position will be held at the next general election in November 2016.

The filing deadline is 12:00 noon (EST) Thursday, November 5, 2015. Completed applications must be received by Benita Duncan, Executive Assistant to the Board of Trustees, in Room 307.5 of the Administration Building at 610 North Capitol Avenue.

As LCC is a public institution, the entire process will be open to the public. A special meeting of the Board of Trustees is tentatively scheduled for Monday, November 16, 2015, at 6 p.m. (EST) to make a final decision on the vacancy. For more information, contact Benita Duncan at (517) 483-5252.
