Welcome to the Math and Computer Science Department
The Math and Computer Science Department (MCS) at Lansing Community College offers a variety of courses in the areas of mathematics, computer science and statistics. We firmly believe in serving the learning needs of our community and students and are committed to doing so. No matter what your reason for taking a course in our department, please know that we are here to help you accomplish your goals.

What We Offer: MCS offers
courses that satisfy LCC's core requirements, transfer to other institutions,
satisfy degree requirements and appeal to a learner's interests. Learn

Who We Are: MCS consists of a group of dedicated full- and part-time faculty and staff, ready to help you. Faculty offices are located along the northeast hallway of the first floor of Arts & Sciences and also in the Continental Building. For general department information, please visit our office in A&S 301. For course-specific information please visit the A&S northeast hallway to speak to one of our faculty. Also located there are MCS bulletin boards, containing math and computer science happenings and information. Contact us.

To take one of our courses: Placement into one of our courses requires the appropriate prerequisite course within two years or the appropriate basic skill (reading, writing and math) levels within two years. Please visit the Assessment Center in the Gannon Building to take a math placement test. Learn about the math level and course placements.
To get help with one of our courses: Free tutoring from faculty is available at the Math Help Desk located in the Liberal Studies Academic Resource Center, A&S 455, on a drop-in basis. Tutor hours are posted on the LSARC web page. Free tutoring is also available by appointment at Tutoring Services, located in the Arts and Sciences Building, Room 103. Many of our courses also offer supplemental instruction.
