Do you like catching insects and then feeding them to frogs, turtles and salamanders? How about wading in a shallow pond to check out all of the cool and interesting insect and other invertebrate life? Students will learn about insect life cycles, predator-prey relationships, larval food plants - everything from the beautiful giant silk moths to the weird-looking ant lion larva. This class includes a field trip to Nature Discovery.

Students will design their own media compositions consisting of their ideas, interests and passions. Students will make different digital media projects using computer technology, video technology and music to learn about synthesis, arrangement, composing and other statement skills. Introduction to professions where these skills are used invite students to imagine themselves in a career where digital media plays a big role and skill set.

Build-A-BOT

You will learn how to design and build a unique mini-robot in this hands-on science class. You will scavenge the parts to build your robot from small electronics and appliances you bring in from home. Each mini-robot built will be different, and the more items you bring in the bigger variety of gears, motors, wheels, pulleys and other parts you will have as your building materials. You will develop your science, math, engineering, and problem solving skills in this class.

Comic Book Illustration

Students will learn how to develop their very own comic book-style character in this class! Each day, you will learn new forensic science techniques to solve a mystery. Topics will include crime scene analysis, handwriting analysis and profiling, fingerprinting, DNA fingerprinting simulations, impression analysis, unknown powder identification, hair and fiber analysis, and blood typing.
