Theatre Program

To step out on stage in character, in costume, in front of an audience, is a risk - and offers a reward - unlike any other human endeavor. The Theatre Program at Lansing Community College is dedicated to nourishing these aspirations and providing these experiences for our students.

The LCC theatre program gives students many opportunities to perform while providing a strong foundation for transfer to a four-year institution. Theatre majors are part of an ensemble: you take classes with the same group of students for two years. The theatre program concentrates on Stanislavski's system of acting, vocal and physical expressiveness, improvisation, analysis and performance of Shakespeare. Each semester's studio experience culminates in a Black Box performance. In the fourth semester, you'll be cast in the spring main stage play. The Theatre program also offers supplemental courses in stage combat, makeup, theatre history, auditioning and acting for the camera.
