2007-2008 EDF Professional Development Grants

These grants have been awarded to employees with the goal of providing opportunities for professional growth benefiting both the individual and Lansing Community College. EDF has authorized over $11,000.00 in grants to the following individuals:

  • Pam Bergeron: to attend a 4-day training on Advanced Facilitation Training for Leadership to be used for our proposed in-house leadership development academy
  • Sunny Cirlin: to update and implement the newest methods available in the violin pedagogy area through individual training with Mr. Charles Avsharian
  • Michael Evans: to attend an Educators Advance Culinary Arts Level II class at Johnson and Wales University in Providence R.I.
  • John Lennox: to bring four international instructors in the Western Martial Arts to work individually with John as well as participate in the College's International Sword fighting and Martial Arts Convention hosted by LCC in August 2004
  • Susan Mutty: to attend the Performance Based Instructional Systems Design Conference - "Focusing on Results" to provide the critical element of program leadership to area employers participating in the area of Human Performance Technology - HPT
  • Teresa Purvis: to participate in the Oxford Round Table at St. Anthony's College in Oxford, England on the topic of women's roles and leadership
  • Elenka Raschkow: to promote LCC Reads II during National Library Week and to continue promoting the importance of literacy, sharing the love of reading and connecting students and employees through a common activity
  • Beverly Smith: to expand communication and educational competence for working with the Lansing Latino community, with special emphasis on the increasing numbers of Cuban refugees by studying the language and culture in Cuba
  • Trixi B. Smith: to cover registration fees for the Usability Week 2005 series of hands-on tutorials to incorporate the latest research in effective user-centered web design
