Grants

Federal grant programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Education. They include the Pell Grant and the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG).

Federal Pell Grant

The Pell Grant is a need-based program that awards funds to undergraduate students who have not yet earned a bachelor's degree. The maximum amount awarded annually for the 2009-2010 academic year is $5,350. The grant amount is based on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), your enrollment status, and your attendance for the year. For 2009-2010, students with an EFC of $4,617 or less may be eligible for a Pell Grant.
To determine your Pell Grant amount, please view our 2009-2010 Pell Grant Chart.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

The FSEOG is a grant for students with exceptional financial need. In order to qualify, students must qualify for a Pell Grant. Unlike Pell funding, which is guaranteed to students who meet the application deadlines and other criteria, FSEOG funding is limited, and awards are made as funds are available, with priority given to those students with lowest EFC who applied by the priority deadline.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

The ACG is a federal-based grant for students who meet the rigorous secondary school program requirements determined by the federal government. First year ACG recipients (below 30 credits) are eligible to receive $750. Second year ACG recipients (30 - 60 credits) are eligible to receive $1,300. Applicants also must fulfill all requirements to be eligible.

Michigan Adult Part-Time Grant (MAPTG)

The MAPTG is a state-based grant for students with exceptional financial need. In order to qualify, students must show need, determined by EFC, must have been out of high school for at least two years, be considered independent status, and be enrolled 3 - 11 credits. MAPTG funding is limited, and awards are made as funds are available.  Priority is given to students with lowest EFC who applied by the priority deadline.

Michigan Equal Opportunity Grant (MEOG)

The MEOG is a state-based grant for students with exceptional financial need.  In order to qualify, students must show need, determined by EFC, and be enrolled at least half-time.  MEOG funding is limited, and awards are made as funds are available.  Priority is given to students with lowest EFC who applied by the priority deadline.

Lansing Community College Grant (LCCG)

The LCC Grant is an institution-based grant for students with exceptional financial need.  To be eligible, students must show need, determined by EFC.  LCC Grant funding is limited, and awards are made as funds are available.  Priority is given to students with lowest EFC.
