Welcome to Online Learning

Registering for Online Courses

 

Please complete these seven steps to register.

  1. Register for a Star Port Account - Star Port is your access point for all systems on campus. Request an account if you don't already have one.
    1. Click on the link for Request NEW STUDENTS/NEW TO STAR Port www.lcc.edu.
    2. Complete all of the information.
    3. A technology user ID (TUID) will be provided to you on the screen.
    4. You will be directed to log-in to Star Port.
       
  2. New Students - Complete the Admissions Process
    1. Log onto your newly created Star Port Account.
    2. Click on the New Students tab.
    3. Click on the link in the Apply and Register section.
    4. Select the Admissions tab and click CREATE.
       
  3. Establish required placement levels in reading, writing and math - Many classes at LCC have levels in reading, writing and math that need to be established in order to register. For more information on placement testing please visit http://www.lcc.edu/assessment/
     
  4. Seek Academic Advising - for help with selecting courses, contact an advisor.  Visit www.lcc.edu/advising or email an online advisor at online_info@lcc.edu or call 517-483-1880
     
  5. You must have access to the Internet - You must have access to a computer with an Internet connection to take an online course.
    1. Beginning with the Spring 2008 semester, all LCC students will be assigned an LCC email account; this is the email address that will be used for all college and course communications. Your LCC email address will be TUID@mail.lcc.edu.
    2. You may use computer labs at LCC's main campus, West Campus, or Howell's Livingston County Center on a limited basis.
  6. Register on the web - go to www.lcc.edu and log onto Star Port. Click on the link in your eToolBox for the student system.
  7. Sign up for Orientation - At the beginning of the semester, orientation sessions are held for online students. You can take these sessions either online or on-campus. For orientation information, please contact Michelle Detering at online_info@lcc.edu or (517) 483-1880.
