WorkKeys Testing Information

ACT WorkKeys® is an assessment system that measures “real world” job skills that employers believe are critical to job success. Lansing Community College is your site to attain the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certification and Teacher Assistant (or Paraprofessional) Certification.

The WorkKeys System is also often used by employers and organizations to assess prospective or current employees in many workforce skill areas. If you are representing an organization that is interested in using WorkKeys at LCC please visit our Business & Community Institute webpage.

The National Career Readiness Certificate™
The certificate is designed to confirm a person’s competence in a specific set of workplace skills. A successful candidate can use their certificate to compliment other traditional credentials such as a diploma or college degree. Many employers use this certification to verify that an individual has essential core employability skills.
The assessment consists of the WorkKeys Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information tests.

WorkKeys® Proficiency Certificate for Teacher Assistants (Parapros)
Lansing Community College offers WorkKeys Paraprofessional Exam sessions for those individuals required to be certified under the “No Child Left Behind” legislation.
The Parapro Assessment measures the skills and knowledge in reading, writing, and math of prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. It also measures their ability to apply those skills and knowledge when assisting in classroom instruction. The Applied Math and Reading for Information assessments are administered through traditional paper-based testing, and Writing uses an audio presentation.
